North Korea’s Kim inspects nuclear-capable aircraft, missiles during Russia visit

North Korean leader Kim Jong Un inspected Russian nuclear-capable strategic bombers and hypersonic missiles on Saturday during a tour of Russia’s eastern region. Kim travelled to the Vladivostok airport where he was shown state-of-the-art bombers and warplanes by Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu. Cruise missiles and automatic artillery systems were demonstrated to the North Korean leader, according to a statement from the Russian defense ministry. Kim began his visit in Russia by holding a summit on Wednesday with Russian leader Vladimir Putin amid concerns that Moscow is seeking to buy artillery ammunition from North Korea for its invasion of Ukraine, in exchange for military technology. The U.S. warned it “won’t hesitate” to impose more sanctions on the two countries if they conclude a new arms deal. Massachusetts was spared the worst of Lee Saturday morning as the National Hurricane Center downgraded the storm to a post-tropical cyclone.Lee is still expected to make landfall later in the day in the Canadian provinces of New Brunswick and Nova Scotia. The center of the storm was about 160 miles south-southeast of Eastport, Maine and about 185 miles south-southwest of Halifax, Nova Scotia as of 8 a.m.Maximum sustained winds were recorded at 80 miles per hour and the storm was moving north at 25 miles per hour, according to the National Hurricane Center. Strong winds, coastal flooding, and heavy rains were already occurring in parts of New England and Canada, the centers said.But Boston and much of Massachusetts appeared to be in the clear as the post-tropical cyclone moved further north, National Weather Service Meteorologist Rob Megnia said. SAN DIEGO -- Two puppies were rescued from a ravine in Murphy Canyon Friday afternoon, said the San Diego Humane Society. The Humane Society says it's law enforcement team received a call from a Good Samaritan at 12:13 p.m. informing them that two small dogs were stuck in a water well on the 28,000 block of Murphy Canyon Road. Six members from the Humane Society's Emergency Response Team's Technical Unit were called in to assist. TAMPA, Fla. (WFLA) - The oldest known cigars in the world are now on display at the J.C. Newman Cigar Co. in Tampa. "What's amazing about these cigars is that they pre-date the city of Tampa," said Drew Newman, a fourth-generation cigar maker. Deep in the cigar vault at the historic El Reloj building sit cigars discovered amid the wreckage of the SS Central America. The ship was traveling from Central America to the American East Coast in 1857 when it encountered a hurricane off the coast of Charleston, South Carolina. The ship sank to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean, along with 425 passengers and over two tons worth of gold, personal belongings, and other artifacts. AUSTIN (Nexstar) — Eligible Texas senators are poised to vote on 16 articles of impeachment Saturday morning in the historic trial against suspended Attorney General Ken Paxton.Lt. Gov. SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Crews responded to a fire on Frank Street in Schenectady early in the morning on September 16. The fire broke out at 3 a.m. at the Southgate Apartments.
