SANTA CLARA — Neither Trey Lance nor Sam Darnold sounds bitter. Their reps are scarce. Their jobs are less prestigious. But they soldier on, jockeying for second-team reps in 49ers training camp.Such is the life they must accept, and thrive in, amid Brock Purdy’s comeback.Purdy has lined up for every first-team snap — 21 on Thursday, 18 on Friday — in his first practices since a devastating elbow injury in the NFC Championship Game. That leaves Lance and Darnold, former No. 3 overall draft picks and “franchise” quarterbacks, rotating in turnstile fashion.Darnold, a newcomer by way of the New York Jets and Carolina Panthers, already sees a unique trait in Purdy.“It’s the poise,” Darnold responded after Friday’s practice. “Going into his second year, you can see it in the way he plays and prepares. The kid’s got poise. I don’t know if you can coach or teach that quality. He’s got it.”A year after =coach Kyle Shanahan ope...
