PODGORICA, Montenegro (AP) — Montenegrins are casting ballots on Sunday in a runoff presidential election that is a battle between a long-serving pro-Western incumbent and a newcomer promising changes in the small NATO member state in Europe that has been locked in political turmoil.Observers say that President Milo Djukanovic, who is credited with leading Montenegro to independence and into NATO, could be facing defeat from the economist Jakov Milatovic, the candidate backed by governing parties advocating closer ties with Serbia. The runoff vote on Sunday is being held after none of the contenders won majority support in the first round of voting two weeks ago. Some 540,000 people are eligible to vote in Montenegro, a country of 620,000 located in the Balkan peninsula and by the Adriatic Sea.The winner of Sunday’s vote could also reflect on the upcoming early parliamentary election on June 11. That vote was scheduled because of months-long government deadlock that stalled Eur...LA police: 1 dead, 3 wounded in shooting at shopping center

SOFIA, Bulgaria (AP) — Bulgarians were casting their ballots on Sunday in a general election — the fifth in two years — hoping to end political instability and help overcome the economic woes fueled by a raging war in Ukraine.Polling stations opened at 7 a.m. (0400 GMT). Initial exit poll results will be announced after polls close at 8 p.m. (1700 GMT) and preliminary results are expected on Monday.Turnout is expected to be low due to voters’ apathy and disillusionment with politicians, who have been repeatedly unable to cobble together a viable government coalition. Moreover, in the last days before the vote, a wave of bomb threats targeted schools that are hosting polling stations for Sunday’s election. Cybersecurity experts attributed the threats to hacker groups engaged in hybrid attacks most likely linked to Russia and aimed at creating fear and reducing voter turnout.Traditionally, many Bulgarians share pro-Russia sentiments, which provides fertile soil for aggressive Kremlin ...“Stay Woke,” How The Right-Wing Has Misappropriated Erykah Badu’s Message of Awareness For Pussy Riot

Pheonix Copley made 25 saves, Sean Durzi, Carl Grundstrom and Kevin Fiala scored, and the Kings created separation in the Pacific Division standings with a 3-1 win over the Seattle Kraken on Saturday night.
