Hamline University announced Monday that President Fayneese Miller will retire after the 2023-24 school year.Miller has been president since 2015.Fayneese Miller (Courtesy of Hamline University)Hamline’s full-time faculty in January urged Miller to resign over her administration’s handling of a Muslim student’s complaint about the use of ancient art depicting the Prophet Muhammad in an art history class.One Hamline administrator said it was “undeniably Islamophobic” for adjunct professor Erika Lopez Prater to have shown the art in class. Miller herself in a staff email said “respect for the observant Muslim students in that classroom should have superseded academic freedom.”Lopez Prater was not brought back for the spring semester, which led to widespread criticism from academics and free speech advocates. STEPHENTOWN, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- A Stephentown man was arrested and is accused of rape, as well as other sex crimes. Richard Fosby, 57, faces several charges. NISKAYUNA, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Canajoharie Police Chief Bryan McFadden has given an update regarding the body found near Lions Park in Niskayuna. According to Chief McFadden, Niskayuna ice and water rescue responded to the Mohawk River in an airboat for reports of a body floating in the water. UF troopers from Princetown responded and noticed the body was wearing khaki pants and a green shirt. Another Canajoharie police officer at the scene took note of a tattoo on the hand of the body. Per chief McFadden, the clothing and hand tattoo appear to match those of Kevin White, who was first reported missing in January. FRANKLIN COUNTY, Mo. - A Villa Ridge, Missouri, man died hours after being involved in a crash Sunday along Highway 100 in Franklin County. According to a report filed by the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the crash occurred shortly after 12:40 p.m. at Highway 100 and St. Johns Road, just east of Washington.Investigators say a 2003 Ford Windstar was traveling eastbound on the highway when the driver of a 2022 Jeep Wrangler, which had previously stopped on St. Johns at the intersection, failed to yield and struck the front of the Windstar. FESTUS, Mo. -- Police are investigating a fatal shooting between two women Friday. Evidence is being handed over to the Jefferson County Prosecuting Attorney for potential charges. No charges have been filed by Monday morning.Officers were called to the 400 block of South 5th Street in Festus at around 11:30 p.m. on March, 31, to investigate a report of a person being shot. They were met by a 40-year-old woman, who told them she shot another woman while being assaulted. A skier died at Eldora Mountain ski area after reportedly colliding with a tree on Sunday.According to a release, a 58-year-old from Texas was on the Muleshoe ski run when she fell, slid down the run and then hit a tree.She was found not conscious or breathing, and members of her group called 911 and began to perform CPR. The driver of a Tesla fled the scene of a fiery crash on the Sunset Strip early Monday where one of his passengers died, authorities said.The crash was reported around 2:30 a.m. on the 8200 block of Sunset Boulevard near Roxbury Road, according to the Los Angeles Police Department, who is handling the investigation. The driver was heading west on Sunset when he lost control, struck a lamp post and a tree and the vehicle burst into flames.A woman who was in the front seat was trapped inside the vehicle and died at the scene, while two other women were able to escape.They were taken to a hospital, where one is listed in critical condition and the other is listed as being stable, police said in an update.
