A New Scandal in Bulgarian Politics: Burgas Oil Refinery to Stop Functioning?

The political elites in Bulgaria for many years have been unable to reach any agreement. International studies note several main characteristics of Bulgarian politics. First, there is the growing trend towards self-isolation: Sofia has often been out of step with Western partners. A number of European directives are not implemented in Bulgarian legislation or not carried out effectively, which lead to penal procedures on many occasions. Second, insufficient action on European integration has led to Bulgaria being relegated to the status of an outsider in the Eurozone and the Schengen area.Fuel ignites crisisThe entry into the Schengen area has become a subject of speculation for the Bulgarian elites. This argument is currently used to justify the termination of Lukoil concession to operate the Rosenets oil terminal near the Black Sea port of Burgas, which is valid until the mid-2040s. The initiative is being pushed forward by representatives of the largest party in the Bulgarian par...Restoration of the Transfiguration Church in Odessa, Ukraine by Ukrainian Entrepreneur Vadym Novynskyi

Ukrainian entrepreneur, Vadim Novynskyi has announced a donation of up to $1 million to help restore the Transfiguration Church in Odessa, Ukraine which was seriously damaged during rocket attacks on Sunday, July 23. The destruction of one of the most beautiful Ukrainian churches, which was erected by the founders of Odessa at the end of the 18th century is a true tragedy. This cathedral was the center of the spiritual life of Odessa. This is not the first time the church has been destroyed. In 1936, the Bolsheviks destroyed the cathedral and it was restored in the early 2000’s after tens of thousands of ordinary people participated in the restoration with their donations.“I sincerely mourn with the inhabitants of Odessa and I want to assure them and all the people of Ukraine that this cathedral will be rebuilt and the people of Odessa will once again be able to worship and seek community in this hallowed place,” said Vadim Novynskyi. “In the days of war and persecu...Word Game: July 27, 2023

Dear Amy: I’m going through a bit of a crisis. You see, shortly before my mother died of cancer last year, she kept a diary detailing in graphic detail about how awful I was and how hard it was dealing with my outbursts (which, I have to admit, were pretty brutal).I have autism, and while my own outbursts were definitely a factor, my mother dealt out her own verbal outbursts.Dad says he’s thinking of publishing her diary so that people know “what it’s really like.” Honestly, I don’t feel comfortable with this, but he says he “promised her on her deathbed” that he’d do this. Not only do I feel uncomfortable with him doing this, but a future employer could be taking a look at this. However, I’m terrified of confronting him because I’m concerned about his rebuttal. What should I do?AnonymousDear Anonymous: It might help if you wrote down your thoughts in the form of a letter. Patches of snow dotted the ground when Canyon Mansfield stepped outside on March 16, 2017. The hill behind the 14-year-old’s home in Pocatello, Idaho, was not particularly large. At the summit, Mansfield would only be 300 yards from his house, and yet, he treasured the visits. With its sweeping mountain view, the hill was Canyon’s refuge. His 3-year-old yellow lab, Kasey, was his constant companion there. The two set off as usual that afternoon. Kasey was thrashing one of his toys when Canyon spotted a sprinkler-like object protruding from the ground. He ran a finger along the device. Suddenly, he heard a pop, and an orange cloud burst forth. Canyon lunged back as the front of his body was doused in chemicals. The burning began immediately. As Canyon grasped for snow to irrigate his eyes, he heard Kasey grunting near the device. He called to him, but he didn’t come. He stopped what he was doing and ran to him. Dropping to his knees, Canyon watched as Kasey writhed in spasms. Frothing a...Crank up ‘Ex’s & Oh’s’ to see Elle King in Maryland, West Virginia
