Teen shot, killed in Alton apartment on New Year's Day

ALTON, Ill. - An investigation is underway after a teenager was fatally shot on New Year's Day at an Alton apartment complex. The Alton Police Department reports that Jaiden L. Dahl, 17, died from injuries in the shooting. The shooting happened around 8:30 p.m. Monday at a complex on Woodview Court. Investigators say Dahl and at least one suspect were inside an apartment when the shooting occurred. Dahl is believed to be known to the suspects. Local couple celebrates 80th wedding anniversary Police have not yet disclosed whether there have been any arrests or charges filed in this case. The Alton Police Department says the shooting was not a random act and does not present a threat to the general public. The Illinois State Police and the St. Louis Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting Alton police with the investigation. Dozens of workers at the Westminster location of the Alamo Drafthouse Cinema chain are planning to unionize to combat what they allege are dangerous working conditions, low pay amid record profits, and firings related to union action and HR complaints, leaders said Tuesday.Employees will rally outside the six-year-old Sloans Lake location, at 4255 W. Denver’s first snow of the new year is right around the corner.After a warm start to 2024 with temperatures expected in the 50s Tuesday, a cold front moves into the state Wednesday and will likely bring with it some snow Thursday afternoon and evening.The Wednesday forecast has a high of 46 degrees and Thursday’s forecast has 35 degrees. Actor Ian Ziering described a physical confrontation between himself and a group of mini-bikers on Hollywood Boulevard Sunday as "hooliganism" in a social media post."While stuck in traffic, my car was approached aggressively by one of these riders leading to an unsettling confrontation," Ziering posted on Instagram one day after the incident.The "Beverly Hills, 90210" actor said he got out of his car to assess any damage when the situation escalated into a physical altercation. Two Teens Pronounced Dead after Hit-and-Run Collision near G StreetANTIOCH, CA (January 2, 2024) – Amahje Emenike and Arsenio Rabb died Friday night in a hit-and-run t-bone collision on West 6th Street and G Street.At approximately 11:30 p.m., law enforcement officers arrived at the scene in response to an incident.
