Fire crews respond to two-alarm residential fire in Oakland (KRON) -- Fire crews responded to an early-morning, two-alarm fire in Oakland, according to the Oakland Fire Department. Two detained after Pier 39 shooting that left 6 people injured Crews arrived at the scene on the 2400 block of East 22nd Street around 3 a.m. OFD found a two-story residential fire that was visible from the second floor. Holiday weekend draws big crowds at Captain White’s Seafood Between Father’s Day and the Juneteenth holiday, it has been an extremely busy weekend at Captain White’s Seafood, an iconic business in the D.C. region that is now located in Oxon Hill, Maryland.The business moved to Maryland last year, after being at D.C.’s Southwest Waterfront for about 50 years.Sonny White, who owns the company, said he was pleased to see that the new location was thriving over the holiday weekend.“After 50 years of good service and good crabs, we have a lot of customers,” said White.It was so busy Monday that White had to call in extra employees to help out.Dozens of people were in a line that stretched around the business, and when the line would shrink, more customers would pull into the parking lot.“This is the first time we’ve been open on Juneteenth,” said White. “We weren’t really expecting it to be as strong as it is.”Local customer Steven Benson was there Monday.“When I came and looked I was li...

(KDVR) -- Mike Amdur is a firefighter at the Foothills Fire Protection District around Lookout Mountain.He said the grasses in the area are green and several feet high after all of the recent rain."There's good moisture content right now, but we worry when those grasses dry out, they create a very large, heavy fuel load for us and can generate pretty intense and fast-growing fire behavior," he said.Amdur said grasses dry out much faster than trees and it doesn't take long.According to Zach Hiris, a meteorologist at the National Weather Service in Boulder, the rest of June looks to be pretty dry."For places like the plains where it is predominantly grass, it just takes a couple of weeks of really dry conditions to get those fuels available to burn again," Hiris said.
