Can Denver go from 90 degrees to 1st freeze?

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 21:51:03 GMT

DENVER (KDVR) — While it may still be hot out, the first freeze isn't too far away. FOX31 spoke with Pinpoint Weather Meteorologist Travis Michels about the chances of Denver experiencing a first freeze in early September. There's always a chance it could freeze in the first weeks of September. Three years ago on Sept. 8, Denver experienced one of the earliest first freezes in history, and it wasn't particularly a cool year. Three days prior on Sept. 5, Denver hit a record high of 101 degrees, according to the National Weather Service. What to expect for Denver’s weather this September Sept. 5, 2020, is looking fairly similar to Sept. 5, 2023, when it comes to the heat. Denver is having highs in the 90s throughout early September. But the years are still quite different, and so are the first frost times. While the weather in 2023 seems just as hot as in 2020, it's actually cooler this year. But the cooler temperatures aren't cold enough for the first freeze. The first freeze isn'...

Qatargate judge Michel Claise: ‘The truth will explode one day’

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 21:51:03 GMT

The true story behind Qatargate, the corruption probe at the European Parliament, will emerge one day, one of the chief investigators said. Michel Claise, a Belgian investigating judge who recused himself from the probe in June, made the prediction as he took aim at unnamed people and media outlets for distorting the real nature of the case.“Everything is in the file, the truth is found there, and not elsewhere, not in the television studios nor in certain magazines. And the truth will explode one day in the face of those manipulators who try very simply to distort it,” Claise told RTBF’s radio station La Première Wednesday. Asked about death threats he’s received and an apparent break-in at his home, Claise said an investigation was underway.Claise refused to answer a question about why he stepped back from the Qatargate case over the summer. His recusal came after the lawyer of one of the suspects, Belgian MEP Marc Tarabella, revealed that Claise’s son Nich...

I was playing air guitar! Belgian minister hits back in peeing scandal

Published Tue, 18 Feb 2025 21:51:03 GMT

I wasn’t pretending to pee; I was just playing air guitar. That’s what Belgian Justice Minister Vincent Van Quickenborne — widely known as “Quickie” — told reporters Tuesday evening, in response to the “Pipigate” scandal which has dominated Belgian headlines following his 50th birthday party last month.Three of Van Quickenborne’s guests, invited to his house to celebrate the occasion, were caught on surveillance cameras urinating on police vans parked by the minister’s home.Van Quickenborne’s office initially released a statement saying the minister “disapproves of this behavior,” and that he was not “present” at the time of the incident or aware that it had happened. But video footage released by Belgian public broadcaster VRT this week seemed to dispute his claim, as it showed the minister walking outside at around 4 a.m., standing on the sidewalk, leaning back and “pretending to pee,” according to VRT.Van Quickenborne has since come forward with his own...

Prime minister’s questions: a shouty, jeery, very occasionally useful advert for British politics. Here’s what you need to know from today’s session in POLITICO’s weekly run-through.What they sparred about: Schools, concrete, and money. Whose fault is it that 156 schools have dangerous RAAC concrete? Labour says the Conservatives, the Conservatives say Labour. The Department for Education on Wednesday finally published the list of schools with potentially dodgy structures, and Starmer named many of them in the house.Biggest Labour cheer of the day: Starmer described the scandal as something “you’d expect from cowboy builders” not “the cowboys running the country.” And the crowd goes wild.Second biggest Labour cheer of the day: Starmer noted that the education secretary (of telling a reporter she’s “d...

JAKARTA — Some southeast Asian leaders see Canada as an anchor for peace in the Indo-Pacific region, as they launch a new strategic partnership at a time when tensions continue to mount over territorial claims in the South China Sea. “As a strategic partner, I hope Canada can become an anchor for peace and stability in the region that respects international law, and that encourages co-operation that are more concrete and inclusive, in particular in the Indo-Pacific region,” said Indonesian President Joko Widodo as he welcomed Canada into a new strategic partnership on Wednesday. The partnership with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations is considered a symbolic gesture that reflects Canada’s expanded presence in the Indo-Pacific region.
