The Oakland A’s bid to have their public financing package plan heard in the Nevada Legislature has gone into extra innings and will be discussed Wednesday morning.Nevada Gov. Joe Lombardo issued a proclamation late Tuesday night calling state officials for a second consecutive special session, this time to discuss a potential $380 million public financing package to help fund a Las Vegas stadium project for the A’s, who are seeking to leave Oakland after 55 years.The proclamation is here! With officials having wrapped up an autopsy and forensic tests, the family of Alexis Gabe can finally lay their daughter to rest.The remains of the 23-year-old Oakley woman – killed more than a year ago – have now been given to her family, which plans to honor her with both public and private events this month.“Our daughter is coming home,” Gwyn Gabe wrote on Facebook. “Yes, we’re able to bring her home at last.”Gabe disappeared on the evening of Jan. 26, 2022, after she left her Oakley home to visit her ex-boyfriend Marshall Curtis Jones in Antioch. Police later determined Marshall killed her, but before they could arrest him at the Seattle-area apartment where he had relocated, he charged at the arresting officers and was fatally shot.The case drew national attention and a Facebook page to help find Gabe drew nearly 17,000 followers. Rachel Cherwitz, OneTaste’s former head of sales, was also charged. According to the government, Daedone and Cherwitz claimed to be able to help those recover from past sexual trauma or abuse but instead manipulated their victims into debt.“Under the guise of empowerment and wellness, the defendants are alleged to have sought complete control over their employees’ lives, including by driving them into debt and directing them to perform sexual acts while also withholding wages,” Brooklyn US Attorney Breon Peace said in a statement.Cherwitz was arrested in San Francisco while Daedone isn’t in custody. (KRON) -- An investigation is underway after an armed robbery occurred near a Marriott hotel Tuesday evening, according to the Oakland Police Department.The robbery occurred just after 5 p.m. in the 1000 block of Broadway Street, where a Courtyard Marriott Hotel is located at. According to the victim, they were walking past a suspect vehicle when two individuals, one armed with a handgun, exited the car and demanded their belongings, OPD said.After a short struggle, the two suspects took the victim's belongings and fled the area in their car. Medical marijuana can help a patient deal with pain — but a D.C. judge has ruled the smell of pot burning has become a pain in the neck for a woman who lives next door.Josefa Ippolito-Shepherd lives in a Cleveland Park duplex that shares a wall with a home owned by Angella Farserotu. Thomas Cackett has lived in a ground-level apartment in Farserotu’s building since 2005.In 2020, Ippolito-Shepherd sued her neighbors, claiming Cackett smoked medical marijuana around the clock, and the smell invaded her home caused a nuisance, and made her physically sick.In D.C. Superior Court, Cackett testified he smokes medical marijuana two or three minutes per day, taking less than a dozen puffs, at night, when he gets home from work, to help him sleep.Cackett said he smokes outside on his patio to abide by the no-smoking clause in his lease, although his landlord, Farserotu, allows him to smoke indoors during inclement weather.Ippolito-Shepherd’s suit claimed Cackett’s marijuana...Latest news
