ROME (AP) — A high-speed multi-car crash saw a Formula E race temporarily halted on Saturday.The Rome E-Prix was red flagged on lap nine after numerous cars were involved in the incident which started when Sam Bird lost control of his Jaguar through a turn and hit a barrier, bouncing back onto the track. Bird’s car was then hit by the Envision of Sebastien Buemi and the Maserati of Edoardo Mortara, who were powerless to avoid the British driver.Antonio Felix da Costa, Lucas di Grassi and Robin Frijns also hit debris and had to abandon the race.The race was immediately halted and the drivers received swift medical attention. (AP) — PGA Tour rookie Trevor Cone shot a 9-under 63 on Saturday at rainy Keene Trace to take the third-round lead in the Barbasol Championship.Cone had a 17-under 199 total for a one-stroke advantage over Lucas Glover and Vincent Norrman in the event co-sanctioned by the European tour.Cone had a bogey-free round, with the tee times moved up because of the rain.“We thought the greens might be a tad softer, but early on it wasn’t really raining hard enough for anything to change,” Cone said. “We got to probably 15 and it kind of started deluging, so the greens got a little softer.”The 30-year-old former Virginia Tech player was 5 under after eight holes.“Just got rolling,” Cone said. “Just played smart, fairways, greens, not get too aggressive. Authorities found a 3-year-old boy in a canal overnight near a Southwest Miami-Dade neighborhood after he was reported missing.The toddler was rushed to Baptist Health Homestead Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, early Saturday morning. (CNN) — An Alabama woman has gone missing after telling a 911 dispatcher that she saw a toddler walking alone on the side of an interstate, according to local police.The woman, 25-year-old Carlethia “Carlee” Nichole Russell, called 911 around 9:34 p.m. local time on Thursday, according to a Facebook post from the Hoover Police Department.Russell told the dispatcher that she saw a toddler walking on the side of I-459 South. After calling 911, she stopped to check on the child and called a family member who lost contact with her, though the line remained open, according to the Facebook post.When officers, who were already en route from the initial 911 call, arrived at the scene, they found Russell’s vehicle and some of her belongings, including her phone, but no sign of her or the child.
