New York opts into summer food program for children ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Over $200 million in federal funding is being invested into providing meals for low-income school-aged children this summer. The announcement comes after Governor Kathy Hochul decided to opt into the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Summer Electronic Benefit Transfer Program for Children. Governor Hochul committed to covering half of the administrative costs of operating the program. The USDA will cover the other half. "No child should have to worry about having access to healthy, nutritious meals when school is out of session for the summer," said Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer. Police are looking for a suspect in an ATM robbery in Franklin County FRANKLIN COUNTY – Police are looking for a man who robbed an ATM on December 27 in Franklin County. On Wednesday, around 4:30 a.m., Franklin County Police heard an ATM alarm sounding at the Bank of Washington located in Gray Summit, Missouri.  A deputy arrived and noticed that the ATM machine had been busted loose from the concrete and was lying in the parking lot of the bank. The suspect was wearing a blue and black plaid button-down flannel, a yellow baseball cap, and a black mask that covered his face besides his eyes. The truck is a two-door older model in tan color. They are asking for public assistance. If anyone recognizes the truck or suspect in the attached photos, contact the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigations Division at 636-583-2560.

Once facing life without parole, East Bay man took 11 years in Bay Point homicide MARTINEZ — After his murder trial resulted in a hung jury, a Bay Area man accepted a plea deal and an 11-year prison term, court records show.Donald Jeter, 26, pleaded no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the Feb. 15, 2019 shooting death of 18-year-old Andre Piazza. The plea deal was finalized last April, but hasn’t been previously reported.Jeter — who is also serving a 20-year prison term for robbing a KPIX news crew in Alameda County — will be eligible for parole in 2031, according to prison records. He is currently incarcerated in California State Prison, Solano, in Vacaville.Police say that Piazza was killed after arranging to buy a gun from Jeter and another man, Ramon Brown. During trial, Jeter’s lawyer argued that witnesses who implicated Jeter had made contradictory statements to police.
