LOS ANGELES (AP) — Two days after the PGA Tour and the Saudi Arabia sovereign wealth fund agreed to a partnership that ends all litigation, another lawsuit has been filed against LIV Golf and Phil Mickelson over a logo.Cool Brands Supply, an Argentine lifestyle and skateboard company, filed a trademark infringement lawsuit last Thursday that claims Mickelson’s “HyFlyers” logo used in LIV Golf is a knockoff of their Fallen Footwear logo. Both logos feature a pair of “Fs” facing in opposite directions.Mickelson is the team captain of HyFlyers, which includes Brendan Steele, Cameron Tringale and James Piot. The complain says Fallen Footwear has used the back-to-back Fs for a logo since 2003. It accuses LIV of using the logo on hats, shirts and sweatshirts sold as merchandise.“The similarities between the two marks, particularly when used on clothing, are striking, and are confusing consumers and causing damage to Plaintiff’s senior mark and brand,” Cool Brands Supply argue in the lawsuit...Accustomed to playing with injuries, Panthers prepare for Game 5

LAS VEGAS (AP) — The Florida Panthers took the ice for Monday’s practice without several key players, most notably Matthew Tkachuk. The Panthers also were seemingly without any concern as they prepare for Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Vegas Golden Knights, down 3-1 in the series.“We haven’t been healthy all year,” said Florida forward Anthony Duclair, who left Game 4 briefly, and practiced Monday. “So I mean, to be honest, a lot of people have stepped up in the right moments all season long and done a great job and that’s why we’re here in this position right now.“We’re all very confident, and whoever is playing we know we got a lot of depth on this team, we got a lot of confidence. We showed that in the first round, and I think that’s definitely gonna help us confidence-wise going into tomorrow.”That was the common theme in the Panthers’ locker room after practice, hanging their hats on overcoming a 3-1 series deficit in the opening round against the Presidents’ ...Sinkholes wreak havoc on roads in the Denver metro

PARKER, Colo. (KDVR) — Constant rain is having an impact on streets and roads in the Denver metro area. The holes are so big in some places, drivers are having to find new temporary routes around them.Steady rain continues to fall south of Denver, and the abundance of moisture can be a problem. What is causing the recent sinkholes in Colorado? At one point on Monday, more pea-sized hail was falling in Elbert County. That’s where giant sinkholes have forced County Road 13 to shut down south of Ferns Road.Chris Richardson, Elbert County commissioner for District 1, said it will take an estimated 10-14 days to repair CR 13.“Water flow must first be diverted through the remaining culvert so work can be done safely,” Richardson said.In Elizabeth, rain turned a horse trail into a river. In Littleton, crews were hoping a small sinkhole doesn’t grow. Sinkhole opens on Parker roadIn Parker, hail and fast-moving water turned a usually tranquil gulch into rushing water. Also in Parker, a sin...$450K settlement after officer fails to help gunshot victim

DENVER (KDVR) — Denver City Council on Monday approved a $450,000 settlement for the family of an 18-year-old who died from a gunshot wound after a responding police officer failed to render aid.JaLonte Jones had been shot in the leg when an officer arrived at the scene on East Harvard Avenue, FOX31 has reported. While the officer, Dewayne Rodgers, called for an ambulance, he did not apply a tourniquet to the teen's leg. What's causing the recent sinkholes in Colorado? Rodgers reported that he normally carries a tourniquet but did not have one with him on the night of the incident, nor did he have latex gloves, according to disciplinary records. He also said he could not see exactly where Jones had been shot. The disciplinary records also indicate that Rodgers said he did not make a radio call to report Jones' worsening condition and he never "got on the air requesting or saying a tourniquet might be needed."A second officer who arrived over nine minutes after Rodgers requested the...PacifiCorp could be on the hook for billions after jury verdict in Oregon wildfires

PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) — A jury in Oregon on Monday found the electric utility PacifiCorp responsible for causing devastating fires during Labor Day weekend in 2020, ordering the company to pay tens of millions of dollars to 17 homeowners who sued and finding it liable for broader damages that could push the total award into the billions. The Portland utility is one of several owned by billionaire Warren Buffett’s Omaha, Nebraska-based investment conglomerate Berkshire Hathaway. One young actress recently gave the term “Break a leg” a whole new meaning when she returned to the stage hours after suffering a serious knee injury during a performance. Seventh grade student Paige Souliotis starred as Wednesday Adams in Pentucket Middle School’s recent production of “The Addams Family.” She and the cast were performing a matinee performance of the show when Souliotis dislocated her knee. “I was pretty worried because, I knew, at that moment, that I wasn’t going to be able to get up,” Souliotis said in a recent interview discussing the injury. The curtain fell as Souliotis’ classmates gathered around her. The rest of the afternoon’s performance was canceled. “She was in so much pain and you could tell,” said one classmate. “So, I was very worried about her.”“We were all incredibly worried about her, whether she was going to be okay,” another student said. NEWTON — The stage is set for the Division 1 boys tennis state championships and neither team has lost a match yet this season.No. 1 Brookline (23-0) took down No. 4 Wellesley 4-1 while No. 3 Lexington (24-0) squeezed by No. 2 St. John’s Prep 3-2 to advance to the state final at MIT on Saturday. For Brookline, this is a chance to avenge a loss in last year’s state championship, while the Minutemen revel in finally advancing out of the semifinal.Lexington reached the state championship in 2016 but has otherwise struggled to advance out of the semifinal round for much of the past decade. Head coach Chris Pugliese said he is thrilled for his players.“We’ve had some bad luck in the semis, I’m not going to lie,” Pugliese said. “It’s good for the kids to see that they can get to the state title because they have been heartbroken.”The key to the Minutemen’s victory came from the second doubles, which took consecutive sets and put the first victory on the board for Lexington. FOXBORO — Less than an hour before the Patriots opened their mandatory minicamp Monday, Bill Belichick described the upcoming three-day stretch as an extension of OTAs.Meaning the Organized Team Activities the Pats conducted over the previous month-plus featuring non-padded practices, team drills usually run at less than full speed and players mostly in attendance, but not always.Turns out, Belichick was right in every sense — for better and worse.Offensive tackle Trent Brown missed Monday’s practice after missing a flight, according to MassLive, while star free-agent addition JuJu Smith-Schuster remained sidelined as an injury precaution. Brown’s absence during the regular season would leave the Pats paper-thin at his position. But in a non-padded OTA — er, minicamp — practice, that doesn’t matter.Yet.What did matter was the timing and organization of the starting offense, which again leaned heavily on tight ends Hunter Henry and Mike Gesicki. Both veterans caught...Latest news
